Bordeaux/France - Cameras are rolling in Bordeaux and its surroundings for Deutsch-Les-Landes, the new authentic German-French culture clash dramedy series, for which Bavaria Fiction teamed up with Newen Group (through its Telfrance subsidiary), with Deutsche Telekom and Amazon Prime Video as coproducers.
Starring Christoph Maria Herbst (Stromberg), Marie-Anne Chazel (Le tueur du Lac, Les Visiteurs), Roxane Duran (La famille Bélier; Paula), Sylvie Testud (La Vie En Rose, Jenseits der Stille), Jasmin Schwiers (Männerhort), Sebastian Schwarz (Frau Temme sucht das Glück), Anna Thalbach (Downfall) and Rufus Beck (Der bewegte Mann), the 10 x half hour series is entirely shot on location. Telfrance will serve as the local production company.
Deutsch-Les-Landes is Amazon Prime Video’s first ever French Original and the platform has exclusive rights in France and Belgium. It is also Deutsche Telekom’s first ever original series and will be available exclusively in Germany on its “EntertainTV Serien” SVoD service. The series will launch on all platforms towards the end of 2018.
Marie-Anne Chazel says: “I am delighted to be part of such a never-before-seen adventure: it's the first ever French-German comedy co-produced, moreover shot in our two languages.“
Christoph Maria Herbst adds: “The rest of Europe is growing together! The rest of Europe? Welcome to Jiscalosse! Watch Deutsch-Les-Landes and have fun witnessing all of the problems of this integration process!“
Roxanne Duran comments: “Being French Austrian myself, I am very pleased to share the stage with both French and German actors. The name of the village Jiscalosse might be invented, but the pleasure we have together in shooting in Les Landes is real!”
Deutsch-Les-Landes unites French and German talent in front of and behind the camera. It is created by Alexandre Charlot and Franck Magnier (Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis), as well as Thomas Rogel (Heute Show); head writers are Alexandre Charlot, Franck Magnier and Peter Güde (Mord mit Aussicht and Stromberg). The series is directed by Denis Dercourt (En équilibre, La tourneuse de page) and Adolf-Grimme-Award winner Annette Ernst (Kiss and Run) and is executive-produced by Sandra Ouaiss on behalf of Telfrance (Newen Group) as well as Moritz Polter, Oliver Vogel and Peter Güde for Bavaria Fiction. Newen Distribution handles international sales.
