Munich - Bavaria Fernsehproduktion has today renamed itself Bavaria Fiction. The move underlines the company’s position as one of the leading production houses for fictional content for Free TV, Pay TV and streaming platforms and confirms its growing international business. Bavaria Fiction is a subsidiary of Bavaria Film and ZDF Enterprises.
"Ten years ago we took over the TV production business of Bavaria Film. Thanks to our business partners and our strong creative team, we have grown steadily, both in the area of commissioned productions as well as in high-end event programming and international coproductions," says Jan S. Kaiser, Managing Director of Bavaria Fiction. "At the same time, the content business has continued to change rapidly with the rise of new market participants, prompting us to create new internal structures to take advantage of the opportunities on top of our core business. This process has been carried out over the last two years, resulting in a clear message today of the rebranding of Bavaria Fiction. Under the leadership of Oliver Vogel in his newly created position as Chief Creative Officer, our team of in-house and freelance executive producers develop and produce fictional content for every genre, in every format and for every client."
Bavaria Fiction was founded in 2007 as Bavaria Fernsehproduktion and is one of the most important production companies for public broadcasters. Bavaria Fiction’s commissions reach millions of viewers with programs such as "Storm of Love" (ARD), "The Rosenheim Cops" (ZDF), "SOKO Stuttgart" (ZDF), "Rentnercops" (ARD), "Inga Lindström" (ZDF) and "Dr. Klein" (ZDF) in Germany alone. In addition, Bavaria Fiction is increasingly active in event productions such as multi-parters "Brecht" (ARD) and "Bella Germania" (ZDF) and international co-productions such as "Das Boot" (Sky Deutschland/Sonar Entertainment).
With an annual production output of around 17,000 on-air minutes, Bavaria Fiction is one of the most successful production companies in Europe. The subsidiary of Bavaria Film and ZDF Enterprises is headed by managing directors Jan S. Kaiser and Manfred Haus-Pflüger. Chief Creative Officer Oliver Vogel oversees all content-related tasks. Bavaria Fiction is based in Munich as well as other locations in Cologne, Stuttgart and Berlin.
